Meet The Author

    If you're looking at this page, you probably want to know something about me. So here are three to get you started, and then the little biography I'm going to put at the back of my books. Anything you might want to know beyond that, you'll probably learn by sticking around or popping over to my other blog. :)
1. I am a full-on, hardcore Christian.
2. I love writing stories about interesting, imaginary people.
3. I love my hats, my boots, and my homemade hot chocolate!

           


About the Author:
    Elia Beck is an avid reader, writer, (former) Irish dancer, tin whistle player, and shameless chatterbox based in Utah Valley. She loves fantasy, medieval weaponry, and talking to inanimate objects like they're real people. When she isn't reading or writing, she's practicing her Irish pennywhistle skills, surviving college classes, or studying autism and ADHD to better understand her brain.
    Elia's motto, for writing and for life, is found in 1st Corinthians 10:31: 'Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.'

#2: This is me again, preparing for an Irish dance performance. Isn't my dress sparkly? :D Seriously, though, I swore I'd never be into girly stuff, but Irish dance changed my perspective a wee bit.

What I Write

    In the last eighteen months, I have been on a journey of exploration. Ever since I wrote the first official draft of The Noble Thief  (the novella I'm revising right now, and hope to publish in the next [couple] year[s]) and realized that there wasn't a lot of magic in it, I've been questioning whether I can really call myself a fantasy writer. Three-Act Narrative Structure

     Welcome back!     Today, I'm going to discuss a common narrative structure mentioned in Mr. Ingermanson's blog post about his snowflake plotting method . And yes, I'm linking it again, because the information on his blog is pretty cool stuff.     The reason for this blog post is because I realized, while working on Step 2 of Mr. Ingermanson's snowflake method, that I couldn't visualize where things were going to be in my story. The Process of Learning

     Hi!     Today, I want to talk about learning.     I know what you might be thinking. Oh, yay! Learning. So exciting.  With a hefty dose of sarcasm.     If that's what's going through your head right now, I don't blame you. I'd probably think the same thing. But I think this is an important topic, and while I don't feel quite as strongly about it as I do about modern body image issues, I've had this one stored up in my files for a while, and am only now adapting it to the blog.     I initially came up with this idea when I was heading into my second semester of Calculus, prepping for the AP Calculus test. Now, I've never liked math, and I hate making mistakes in math because it's long meant I have to redo the problem I missed.
