A Day on the Farm: A Book by Elia Beck

I have a book "published"! I wrote it for my Intro to Educational Technology class Fall semester of 2024; click here to give it a read! This book is fully narrated (by me; click the little audio icon on each page), every page contains a picture taken either by me or by one of my friends, and I have even included a short milking demonstration video to show you how it's done! (I have no idea why I'm so inordinately proud of an 11-page picture book with extra content, but here we are.)

The Process of Learning

     Hi!     Today, I want to talk about learning.     I know what you might be thinking. Oh, yay! Learning. What I Write

    In the last eighteen months, I have been on a journey of exploration. Ever since I wrote the first official draft of The Noble Thief  (the novella I'm revising right now, and hope to publish in the next [couple] year[s]) and realized that there wasn't a lot of magic in it, I've been questioning whether I can really call myself a fantasy writer. After all, if your whole magic system is nothing but a volcano that can understand people's intents, that doesn't feel very magical--or very fantasy. In fact, the most fantasy-like part of The Noble Thief  is the plot, which follows the classic fantasy plotline of a runaway/exiled/kidnapped princess who reclaims her throne. Where have we seen that before? Three-Act Narrative Structure

     Welcome back!     Today, I'm going to discuss a common narrative structure mentioned in Mr. Ingermanson's blog post about his snowflake plotting method . And yes, I'm linking it again, because the information on his blog is pretty cool stuff.     The reason for this blog post is because I realized, while working on Step 2 of Mr. Ingermanson's snowflake method, that I couldn't visualize where things were going to be in my story.
