Subscribe

    Because I don't know how the Blogger "follow" button works, I haven't chosen settings that will put it up. I'm not sure what's involved with it, if you have to have a Google account to use it, and so on, so I'm not going to touch it.
    If you want updates about the blog, use the contact form in the left sidebar and ask me to add you to my blog email list. Nobody else will get your contact info, and when I put up a new blog post I'll send out an email with a link to it.
    Additionally, if/when major book updates come, or I'm searching for beta readers, or somesuch thing like that, I'll announce it on the email before I announce it on my blog, to give subscribers more benefits than just notifications about blog posts.
    I've also decided that, when I do finally have a book coming out (which may not be for a while, sorry), I'll send a PDF file to all the blog subscribers early so they can read the finished manuscript. It won't be the same as reading an actual book, but it is another benefit I can give subscribers.

P.S.--If you have a specific request for a blog post (i.e. 'Hey, Elia! What do you think about deus ex machina in fantasy?') drop that in the comments on my most recent blog post or send it in with the contact form. I'll see what I can do with it. :)

    In my English 2010 class this semester, my professor has been talking a bit about perspectives, and about how, when writing any sort of research paper, it's really important to look at as many perspectives as you can and try to understand them. Whether they support your position or not, it's always good to see an issue from as many sides as possible so as to get an understanding with the proper depth.     And then, of course, he drew a little diagram to illustrate his point. Hot Chocolate & Saying Hello!

 It's only fitting if my very first blog post includes my home-made hot chocolate recipe. This is Hats, Boots, & Chocolate, after all. So here's the recipe, and then we'll see if I've got anything more to say.  For 8 ounces of water, mix 1/32 tsp of stevia extract, 2 tsp of cacao powder, 1/4 tsp of lecithin, 2 tsp of coconut water powder, and 2 tsp of coconut oil at the bottom of your cup. And this year, I volunteered to help out at Luminaria--which is essentially a long Christmas-time walk through the Ashton Gardens, surrounded by amazing Christmas lights and decorations, with a side of real, live reindeer. Three-Act Narrative Structure

     Welcome back!     Today, I'm going to discuss a common narrative structure mentioned in Mr. Ingermanson's blog post about his snowflake plotting method . And yes, I'm linking it again, because the information on his blog is pretty cool stuff.     The reason for this blog post is because I realized, while working on Step 2 of Mr. Ingermanson's snowflake method, that I couldn't visualize where things were going to be in my story.
